Technical Assistance on Evaluation for Children's Bureau Discretionary Grantees
Since 1999, JBA has been awarded four separate contracts from the Children's Bureau to provide evaluation TA support for the Children's Bureau's efforts to use research and demonstration grants to develop, disseminate and integrate knowledge that informs practice and policy-making and to share lessons learned with the child welfare field. The Children's Bureau requires its grantees to conduct evaluations as a condition of their grant awards. Through JBA's contract, the expectation is that programs will utilize the evaluation TA services offered to strengthen the design and implementation of their local evaluations, resulting in empirical evidence regarding the relationship between a particular service or service model and a desired outcome. The hope is that grantees will also utilize TA services to strengthen their evaluations of the process of implementing innovative service models, including the barriers encountered and the factors associated with successful implementation.
