Adaptable Evaluation Training and Technical Assistance for Healthy Marriage, Promoting Responsible Fatherhood and Tribal/TANF Child Welfare Grantees
Under this contract with the Office of Family Assistance (OFA), JBA assists grantees in building evaluation capacity and enhances the rigor of their evaluation designs. Using a three-phase approach that entails needs assessment, TA planning and delivery of evaluation TA, JBA systematically assesses each grantee's need for evaluation by conducting a brief needs assessment and reviewing available documentation (e.g., grant proposals, logic models, progress reports). The findings from this assessment are used to plan the content and format of TA to support grantees in implementing their evaluations. The delivery of TA occurs through a variety of mechanisms, including the following:
  • Individualized telephone consultations;
  • Technical assistance workshops and presentations;
  • Web-based seminars;
  • Moderated teleconference calls with groups of grantees;
  • Site visits;
  • Written critiques and comments on evaluation-related documents and materials, including evaluation plans, data collection instruments, and data analysis plans;
  • Referrals to other grantees (peer-to-peer TA); and
  • Dissemination of relevant evaluation materials and models and referral to other resources
