Evaluation Technical Assistance and Cross-Site Evaluation for Early Head Start/Child Welfare Services Demonstration Grants
Under our contract, JBA provides evaluation technical assistance (TA) to 24 Early Head Start (EHS) grantees throughout the country. TA is individualized to the particular needs of each grantee and is typically provided through e-mail correspondence or telephone. TA is delivered through a wide range of mechanisms, including:
  • Hands-on training on the development of logic models and evaluation plans;
  • Telephone consultations;
  • Individualized education regarding basic evaluation concepts;
  • Individualized review and feedback on logic models, program objectives, measures, and data collection plans;
  • Dissemination of existing evaluation materials and resources;
  • Referrals to other grantees who are conducting similar work; and
  • Provision of training on process and outcome evaluations at national meetings of the grantees in Washington, D.C. as well as at regional meetings.
In addition, JBA has prepared a series of in-depth synthesis papers that summarize the information reported by EHS grantees in their semi-annual progress reports. To date, six synthesis reports have been developed to establish a foundation for a final synthesis report.
