Designing and conducting evaluations of prevention programs that serve vulnerable populations has posed many unique challenges. JBA has developed expertise in addressing these issues through more than 18 evaluations of prevention programs, many of which involve a combination of prevention and treatment services. In the area of child welfare, JBA has performed evaluations of programs that aim to prevent child maltreatment and foster care placement while increasing family stability. Examples of services targeted at promoting family stability include family support services, family preservation services, time-limited family reunification services and comprehensive community-based social services designed to increase protective factors and reduce maltreatment risk factors.
