Heidi Melz has nearly 20 years of experience researching interventions that address child welfare issues and family structure, functioning, and well-being. She currently works on three projects evaluating child welfare initiatives:
- Cross-Center Evaluation of the Child Welfare Capacity Building Collaborative
- Technical Assistance on Evaluation for Children’s Bureau Discretionary Grant Programs
- Identification and Care of Children With Prenatal Alcohol and Other Drug Exposures: Prevention Strategies
Melz’s technical expertise includes formative and summative evaluation design, survey design, and multivariate data analyses. Her program and policy expertise includes child welfare, teen pregnancy prevention programs, and healthy marriage interventions.
Melz received a Ph.D. in human development and family science from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.S. in demography and rural sociology from the Pennsylvania State University.
