Accounting Associate
We are seeking a full-time accounting associate. Reporting to the finance manager, the accounting associate prepares and reviews financial information and organizes it in a way that provides a clear picture of the company’s fiscal health. He or she handles billing processes including accounts receivable and accounts payable; processes financial documents and looks for ways to improve efficiency and recognize unnecessary expenses; and regularly updates company records with details about income and itemized expenses to reflect the most accurate information and meet financial regulations.
This is a hybrid position in Arlington, VA. The salary range for this position is $55,000 to $60,000, based on experience.
Responsibilities
- Collect, enter, and analyze financial information/data
- Recommend solutions and improvements based on monitored financial data
- Assist with developing and monitoring proposal and contract budgets
- Compare and analyze planned versus actual project costs
- Review client contracts to ensure U.S. GAAP standards
- Track all government contracts and related modifications in relation to budget
- Prepare contract budget-control reports
- Allocate billing amounts per billing cycle
- Monitor invoices, cash distribution, vouchers, and payroll amounts
- Provide ad hoc suggestions and feedback to project directors regarding budget forecast, resource utilization, and tax strategies
- Respond to project director inquiries about project financials and accounting information
- Assist and support budget and costs forecasting
- Ensure accuracy of open balance in customer statements and payment collection
- Support month-end and year-end closings
- Review staff expense reports to ensure compliance with company procedures and policies
- Other ad hoc accounting tasks
Required Qualifications

Research Assistant, Child Welfare
We are seeking a full-time research assistant to join our Child Welfare practice area and support our research, evaluation, and technical assistance (TA) projects. We are looking for an individual who is interested in child welfare and child/family services, highly organized, detail oriented, proactive, able to problem solve, and a critical thinker; has flexibility to support multiple projects; and is interested in professional growth.
This is a remote position. The salary range for this position is $40,000 to $50,000, based on experience.

Research Associate, Child Welfare
We are seeking a full-time research associate to join our Child Welfare practice area. This individual will support the evaluations of various federal child welfare projects and provide expertise in the application of equity principles and approaches in human services research, evaluation, policy, and practice.
This is a remote position. The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $80,000, based on experience.
Responsibilities
- Participate on teams, drawing on experience, analytic skills, and technical knowledge
- Design and conduct research and evaluation for state, federal, and private sector projects
- Advise senior staff on statistical and methodological issues
- Provide evaluation technical assistance (TA) to human services programs, particularly programs that engage groups marginalized by systemic inequities
- Apply rigorous analytic thinking to the collection and interpretation of quantitative data
- Translate complex, technical behavioral and social sciences research for end users with nontechnical backgrounds
- Author technical memos, TA tools, issue briefs, webinar presentations, sections of reports, and journal manuscripts
- Contribute to business development activities, including generating ideas and responding to requests for proposals (RFPs)

Research Associate, Tribal Evaluation
We are seeking a full-time research associate to join our Tribal Evaluation practice area and support our research, evaluation, and technical assistance (TA) projects within American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities. The ideal candidate has substantial experience with research and evaluation methods, is highly organized and detail oriented, can coordinate and support the development of written products, and is able to communicate effectively with diverse partners. We are seeking an individual who is proactive, able to problem solve, experienced with working in tribal communities, confident working independently as well as collaboratively with team members, and interested in professional growth.
This is a remote position. The salary range for this position is $70,000 to $80,000, based on experience.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison to tribes, tribal organizations, and urban Indian organizations
- Provide TA on program evaluation, performance measurement, data collection and reporting, and continuous quality improvement
- Develop and deliver TA webinars, trainings, and presentations
- Facilitate meetings with and engage AI/AN community partners
- Apply rigorous analytic thinking to the collection and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data
