Out-of-School Time

Gaps in the regular school day and year present opportunities to support child health, development, and education, particularly for those at risk for poor outcomes due to poverty and other stressors.

Many families rely on structured programs like before- and after-school care, service learning, and internships to fill those gaps and keep their children safe.

JBA evaluates the impact of out-of-school time programs on academic achievement, life skill development, risk reduction, and more. For programs just getting off the ground, we conduct evaluability assessments to determine whether their design makes it feasible to evaluate them in a rigorous way.
