Co-Occurring Disorders

A woman speaks to a counselor.

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 17 million Americans have both mental health and substance use disorders.

Many individuals with co-occurring disorders struggle with physical health conditions as well. Innovative treatment approaches seek to address these complex issues in an integrated way.

JBA’s work in this area includes managing data collection and analysis for a treatment adherence, health outcomes, and cost study of people living with mental health and substance use disorders and HIV/AIDS. Other process and outcome evaluations include a national study of mental health services for individuals with HIV/AIDS.
